Our Video Crew Hits Up Kixpo at The Bomb Factory and Walks A Mile In A Sneakerhead's Shoes.
Welcome to Out In These Streets, where we pound the regional pavement to get the average Dallasite's perspective on the most interesting happenings in town.
Kixpo's pretty amazing, you guys! Of course, that's not exactly a new revelation. For nine years now, this annual event, which proclaims itself to be “the largest sneaker and streetwear expo in the country,” has been showing off Dallas' more fashionable streetwear side while providing a safe space for sneaker obsessives to gather and geek out over the latest in footwear.
It's a sweet deal, really. And one that's grown pretty big over time, too, with past conventions even taking place out in Arlington in the massive confines of AT&T Stadium. This year's convention wasn't that huge — and, perhaps, it was all the better for it — as it returned to its original home in the Deep Ellum neighborhood by setting up shop in the still-pretty-damn-big Bomb Factory space this weekend.
With the event in full swing on Saturday afternoon, we stopped by the spot to learn a little bit more about the event and to finally answer the biggest question of all: What is a sneakerhead, anyway?
Here's what we found. — Kalan Briggs
