Earlier this week, a man sleeping in the middle of a train track in upstate New York was run over by a train. Said man, you'll be comforted to know, is completely fine.

Because he was drunk and his body was limp — and, yes, laying in just the right position — he was totally unscathed in the incident.

Still, there's about a million better things to do with your free time tonight than passing out on a set of train tracks. Here's but a few reasonable options. — Cory Graves

Power Trip at Sons of Hermann Hall
Not gonna lie: Our hearts were broken a little bit back when Power Trip frontman Riley Gale announced a little over a year ago that he was moving away from Dallas to pursue new opportunities in Chicago — if only because it meant that seeing the hardcore band perform live, in all its visceral glory, would be a less-regular occurrence around town. There was a silver lining with that news, though: Much of the rest of the band was staying put, meaning Power Trip would still be based for the most part in North Texas and local shows from the band, while not quite as frequent, were still very much in play. With Gale back in town for a visit, that much comes to pass again this week, as the band's set to perform at Sons of Hermann Hall tonight. In advance of that show, we asked the frontman if he'd write something for us — something maybe along these lines — in which he'd reminisce about what he misses most about Dallas since moving away, and what he's seen change in the city while watching from afar. The Lonely Biscuits at Dada
Back in 2011, four guys created a band in a dorm room that has since traveled the world with its mix of pop, rock and hip hop. The Lonely Biscuits have independently released three EPs with sounds that appeal to an array of folks. They're playing at Dada tonight. Opening are sol cat and McAllister. — Diamond Victoria

The Lentils at Lion's Den
That basement in Denton that occasionally throws a cool party with some great bands is hosting some funky, “cartoon pop, psych-punk” acts tonight, courtesy of this Dallas Distortion presented show. Stop by The Lions' Den to hear North Carolina's The Lentils, Philly's Grape Room and local heroes Fungi Girls. It's all ages and B.Y.O.B. — DV

Kehlani at Trees (Sold Out)
After opening for G-Easy in February of this year, Bay-Area hip-hop artist Kehlani is back, headlining an already sold-out performance of her own at Trees. Born as dancer and falling victim to a traumatic knee injury, the singer took to music and continues to captivate swinging crowds across the country. Talk about a fast rise. — Evan Henry
