Wabi House Gets An Opening Date, Girlie Steaks Come To Uptown and ZaLat Adds Lunch Hours.

Welcome to The Spread, our weekly feature that aims to share all the area restaurant, food and beverage industry news that's fit to print. Except, this is the Internet, so space isn't a concern. Also: Good thing, because this is Dallas and this town always has breaking restaurant news going down like whoa.

After showing us a glimpse of what the ramen offerings coming soon to Greenville Avenue will look like back in March, Wabi House finally has a set opening date for next month.

Naturally, we can look forward to plenty of tonkotsu, as well as vegetarian options and cocktails on the streamlined menu when it officially opens itself to the public on July 27. Amidst the city's growing noodle scene, the concept from chef Dien Nguyen (Piranha Killer Sushi will offer something that others don't in the way of late night hours (as late as 4 a.m.) on weekends. The shops regular hours will be from 11 to 4 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. On top of that, 100 percent of the proceeds from opening day will go to a local non-profit, as the team's way of showing love to the community.

Tomorrow, meanwhile, you can look for the opening of Off Site Kitchen's new Trinity Groves location. The food menu features a mixture of familiar and new items, including cocktails and a grab-and-go beer option. Hours for the new space are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Also exciting? After a lot of speculation and envy, the Dallas-Fort Worth region will finally add a Shake Shack to its never-ending list of burger options in the near future, it seems. The New York-based chain will plant its first North Texas location in Plano, right in the Legacy West Development. No word on an opening date yet, but the North Texas outpost is the second to hit the state, following an Austin location.

Meanwhile, another New York venture is slated to hit Uptown, this time bringing steaks. STK does a “female-focused take on the steakhouse,” with steaks in small, medium and large sizes. The restaurant also focuses on atmosphere, with a DJ who “reads the room,” according to GuideLive. Look for an opening during the first half of 2016.

In McKinney, less gender-specific news comes as Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen announces that it's set to open Wednesday, June 24. As confirmed by a press release, the restaurant will serve lunch and dinner, with weekend brunch following later this summer.

Over in Oak Cliff, on the other hand, Norma's is celebrating its 59th year of business on Tuesday, June 23, by offering up $1.79 specials on items like chicken-fried steak and meatloaf.

Oh, and that proposed Bonnie-and-Clyde-themed restaurant we told you about a ways back finally has a name. It'll, somewhat unsurprisingly, be calledParker Barrows.

Speaking of exciting new things: Caving in to popular demand, the pizza peddlers at Zalat will now offer lunch hours. The store's new hours will be from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays. With the changes in hours also comes the news that the spot is closing on Mondays and Tuesdays, with owner Khanh Nguyen promising Monday's return come football season, according to CraveDFW.

In craft beer news: FireWheel Brewing Co. is hosting a taproom bottle share event on Friday, June 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite beers to share, as samples from others will be available. And up in Lewisville, the Best Little Brew Fest in Texas happens again this Saturday, June 20, with more than 200 craft beers and ciders available, along with food trucks and live music, plus VIP food offerings from LUCK.
