Early 35 Denton Tickets Go On Sale, Brent Best Goes Solo and Leon Bridges Does Jools Holland.

Two months removed from this year's 35 Denton festival, organizers have already begun planning next year's affair. Though we wouldn't expect any band announcements anytime soon, the fact that tickets to 35D 2016 are already on sale as a pretty sure sign that the fest won't be taking another year off to regroup. For those who were at this year's newlook 35D, this is surely good news.

The fest will celebrate this news with a presale party at Dan's Silverleaf on Saturday, June 6. Appropriately calling the shindig “New Girl Order,” the lady-centric lineup of music acts performing includes Mydolls, Jessie Frye, Wiving, Shiny Around the Edges, *~~ and Glitterature. It'll cost you $10 to get in — but, once inside, you can nab earlybird tickets to next year's festival for just $35. Or, if you buy your festival tickets online beforehand, they'll let you into the Dan's show for free.

Speaking of shows you won't want miss: Leon Bridges will be taping his second late-night television performance tonight, this time appearing on an episode of Later… with Jools Holland, alongside acts like Rudimental, Simply Red and Ezra Furman. Catch it when it airs on BBC2 — or, more likely, just keep an eye out for when it hits the internet.

It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, Bridges learned from his March appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden , and to see if he, again, performs “Better Man.” And who could blame him if he did; most agree that said song is the jam.

In the meantime, there's a few more new Leon nuggets to glean from this new interview with Noisey. For instance: Did you know Bridges studied choreography in school? Well, he did.

Still, while you're waiting on the release of Bridges' debut LP to drop next month, there's tons of new local music to hold you over. Another band releasing its own major label debut is the Grammy-winning Denton jazz outfit Snarky Puppy, whose Syliva LP comes down the pike next Tuesday, May 26 via Universal Music Classics. For the effort, the band teamed with 63-piece Dutch orchestra Metropole Orkest. The album's currently streaming all week over at the New York Times' Press Play blog.

More new tunes this week come from Fungi Girls, which will drop a new cassette tape and head out on tour this coming weekend. Recorded at Fort Worth's Dreamy Soundz Studios, a vinyl version of the new Place Unknown will be put out by Gnar Tapes later this fall. For now, check out a pair of new cuts below.

That's just one of many new releases tied to Dreamy Soundz and Co. on the horizon. Another new one we're very much looking forward to is Andy Pickett's debut LP, It Happens Every Night, which the label will release next month. Pickett will support his chill R. Stevie Moore meets Leon Russell batch of songs with a live performance on June 13 at The Chat Room, which will see him perform with a full backing band for the first time ever. Here's the first cut from that one.

Also recorded at DS is the new five-song debut EP from The Road Soda, which will earn its release on May 29 via DS subsidiary Lo-Life Records. Here's some tuneage from that one.

Not to be outdone by all the bands he's produced and records he's putting out via Dreamy Soundz of late, label co-founder Robby Rux will release a new album with his band, Year of the Bear, on June 6 at The Boiled Owl Tavern.

Oh, and Slobberbone frontman Brent Best will also finally release his first-ever solo LP, Your Dog, Champ, on August 7 via Last Chance Records.

Over in Dallas, there's a few new releases worth noting as well, including the new one from singer-songwriter Nicholas Altobelli, which comes out July 7. Like his last release, Searching Through That Minor Key was produced by Salim Nourallah. Also featured on the disc are backing musicians Joe Reyes (guitar), John Dufilho (drums), Kim Nall (backing vocals), Paul Slavens (accordion and bells), Trey Carmichael (drums), Laura Scarborough (vibraphone), Chris Holt (guitars) and Nourallah himself on a little bit of pretty much everything. Here's the first two cuts from that one.

Then there's Tunk, whose No Defeat II LP won't be released until later this fall. In the meantime, he's put out the No Defeat 1.5 mixtape, a sort of prequel to the album meant to hold folks over for the LP. Here's that one.

On the video side of things — and in addition to the Kaela Sinclair video we premiered this morning — a couple of new Denton acts have put out new clips worth checking out, too.

For one, that dreamy “Patsy Cline” cover that Sundae Crush's Jena Pyle and Claire Morales put out awhile back has a contemplative new video that premiered earlier today. Check it out.

Finally, we also meet Missiles to the Masses, a new group featuring Brian C. Hutson, Joshua Harris, Danielle Weller, JT Longoria, Kenn Westman and the inimitable Ryan Becker. Check out the spacey-yet-stoic clip for that band's debut single, “Our Phantom Kisses,” below.
