Wilco at McFarlin Auditorium
Late last month, venerated adult alternative heroes, Wilco, cancelled an upcoming May gig in Indiana after the state passed its controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which most agree is discriminatory to the LGBT community. That bill was altered earlier this month, and Wilco subsequently reinstated the show. It was good news, if only because there's plenty about Texas politics to be disgusted about, too. No worries, this show will go on as planned. — CG
Father John Misty at Granada Theater (Sold Out)
The singer-songwriter, also known as Joshua Tillman, has folk rock down to a science. The former Fleet Foxes drummer is currently out on tour in support of his latest album,I Love You, Honeybear, the second he's released since adopting the FJM moniker. The album received rave revues; A.V. Club says: “With a welcoming tenor and a likeably schmaltzy delivery that finds him displaying loads of range and emotions, he's able to give his subject matter the unforgiving and ultimately warm treatment it deserves.” — Erika Lambreton

Sure, Orville Bateman Neeley III has spent time performing with Bad Sports and The Strange Boys in the past. But his latest project is a straightforward attempt to save rock 'n roll. The fact that said revolution might just start out in a garage is secondary. The Secret Prostitutes and Dead Mockingbirds open. — CG

Among the crop of Dallasites sharing their juicy, true life tales on the Oral Fixation stage tonight will be Old 97's guitarist Ken Bethea, who'll share his story about leaving the corporate world at age 30 to join a rock band. — CG
Nick Jonas at Hilton Anatole (Sold Out)
For a few days now, after duetting with Dan + Shay at this past weekend's record breaking ACM Awards, the Dallas-born Jonas brother has been kicking around town awaiting tonight's hotel gig. It sounds too weird to be true, alas it's sold out, so we may never know. — CG
Waxahatchee at Rubber Gloves
Interestingly, Waxahatchee is not, in fact, from Waxahachie, Texas. You won't have to drive all the way to Waxahachie to catch a set from the buzzing, Katie Crutchfield-led indie project, either. Hell, you won't even have to drive all the way out to Denton to catch the band's Rubber Gloves set tonight if you're not feeling up to braving I-635, as it'll precede that show with a live in store at Good Records beforehand. — CG
Taxi Driver at Alamo Drafthouse
Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Yes, I am talking to you. Martin Scorsese's magnum opus on fighting crime in a mohawk is back in theaters this weekend only. Come fist-pump as a young Robert De Niro takes out a hotel full of New York scum. Kick-Ass and all of those other silly vigilante-esque flicks ain't got shit on this. — Chase Whale
