Because One Doughnut and Craft Beer Brunch at Luck Isn't Enough, Round Two Comes On Sunday.

We all know that Dallasites love their brunch. There is, after all, a reason why you're practically guaranteed an hour-long wait when you drag yourself out of bed on Sunday morning in search of sustenance and hangover booze.

We also know how much Dallas loves its artisanal foodstuffs, be it our regions many craft beers or our many over-the-top doughnut spots

So when Luck, the restaurant located in the lovely updated Trinity Groves area, announced that it would offer up a special brunch pairing last Sunday of specialty doughnuts from Glazed Donuts Works with four local craft beers, you'd probably guess that people would come in droves to get this limited offer.

And you would be right.

Here's how high demand was: Before Luck could even open at 11 a.m. last Sunday, its patio area was completely filled — before servers could bring out menus and set up tables, even. Within 15 minutes of opening, the inside area was almost completely full, too, including all the bar seats. Within 17 minutes of opening, Luck sold out of its doughnut-and-beer brunch.

It wasn't all hype, either. The pairing of a cinnamon doughnut with Grapevine's Stocking Stuffer winter warmer tasted like Christmas, but in March. The macadamia and toasted coconut doughnut, which was divine, paired well with Revolver's Sidewinder for a light a refreshing nosh set off by the toasted coconut. The chocolate cherry cake doughnut's pairing with Bearded Eel's Bent Rut too please. And the old-fashioned salted caramel doughnut's pairing with 903's Land of Milk and Honey gave a great sweetness to the tasting's ending.

So, yeah, this no-brainer of a mash-up turned out to be a huge success — so much so that, this weekend, Luck is doing the same thing all over again. Well, almost the same: This time through, instead of Grapevine's Stocking Stuffer, the cinnamon doughnut will be paired with Martin House's Counterclockwise Swirl. So, even if you were lucky enough (no pun intended) to experience this the first time around, there's your excuse to go out again.

Just know this: If you want in on the action, you better get to Luck early. Even though the restaurant tells us it ordered twice as many doughnuts this time through as it did last time, there are still only 100 flights available in total.

Well, this Sunday at least. Luck tells us diners can expect more brunch flight varieties to come on a monthly basis moving forward.
