Shortly after forming in 2004, the Cold War Kids quickly began amassing a cult following. Its brand of bluesy, hook-filled indie rock that takes more than a few cues from the White Stripes, Spoon, Jeff Buckley and The Velvet Underground was an easy draw in that regard. And the band hasn't really let up since that start, its audience seeming to only grow with each release.

Still, there exists a second contingent with this band, a group of onlookers who'd argue that the band undoubtedly peaked back in 2011 with the release of its third album, Mine Is Yours.

Those doubters would do well not to write Cold War Kids completely off: After all, it was during the tour cycle for that album that the band replaced original guitarist, Jonnie Russell, with ex-Modest Mouse member Dann Gallucci. The next year they also added Gallucci's old Modest Mouse bandmate, drummer Joe Plummer, to its ranks, further cementing a sonic shift and a future worth keeping an ear toward.

Since then, Cold War Kids has released a couple of albums — most recently October's Hold My Home, which stands as a more intense and assertive album than the band's previous output. The newest of the band's material is powerful and anthemic, factors that are only intensified at the band's live shows.

Lucky us, then, that photographer Sean Berry never gave up on the band. His below shots from the band's Friday night show at the House of Blues reveal a band with plenty left in its tank.
