Watch Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin Lie To Their Mothers About Marriage Proposals To Fake Girlfriends.
Up Canada way, there's no ESPN and there's no SportsCenter. Instead, there are TSN and SportsCentre. To be fair, these separate entities are mostly the same; the main difference, really, is that the Canadian versions just spend a little more time covering the Canadian Football League and way more time covering hockey — about as much time as ESPN and Sportscenter spend covering the NFL.
That last bit is especially important when it comes to the below clip, if only because it's tough to get professional athletes to agree to take part in on-camera pranks when you don't cover their sport.
Of course, that's no issue here, as the Dallas Stars' Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin appear to have no problem calling up their mothers on camera for SportsCentre and lying to them about secret girlfriends that the young players hope to propose marriage to this Valentine's Day. It's worth a watch, if only because of the obvious guilt that sets on the players' faces once Benn and Seguin's moms start to believe their lies.
Check it out below. And, for what it's worth, there's no need to worry, ladies: Last we checked, each of these guys are still single.
