Come Out Swingin'.

As part of a three-year study on the effects of bone and muscle atrophy in space, NASA is paying folks $18,000 a pop to lay in bed for three months at a time. You can read a firsthand account of one such participant in the study here.

We'll save you some time here and give you the gist of what he had to say: Laying in bed for three months sucks, actually. In that time, the patient lost 20 percent of his blood volume, the ability to stand for 15 minutes without passing out and, in his words, he was bored out of his mind.

Count your blessings that you're not stuck in the sack tonight. Look at all you'd be missing out on if you were. — Cory Graves

Oral Fixation: “Two Peas in a Pod” at Wyly Theatre
Dallas' favorite live storyteller series gets a bit cozy this month for its Valentine's-acknowledging, “Two Peas in a Pod” show, but that's not to say you can't show up stag. It's not all lovey-dovey. There will be stories about beloved pets, twin siblings, plutonic pals and childhood besties, too. — CG

Enabler, Call of the Void, Cleric, Heretic at Three Links
Start your week with a real bang. Ohio-based hardcore/metal band Enabler and Boulder, Colorado grind-core band, Call of The Void — both of which released new albums late last year — top this heavy ass bill. Local bands Cleric and Heretic open. — Lauren Rushing

Candye Kane at The Live Oak
If ever there was an evidence to support the old what doesn't kill us makes us stronger adage, it would be in the career of singer Candye Kane. The ex-plus-sized porn star turned blues jazz singer has survived numerous hardships in her multi-decades-long career, including a recent battle with pancreatic cancer. For all she's endured, her powerhouse vocals are stronger than ever. — CG

Dirty Dancing at Alamo Drafthouse
Is there a more quintessential dance movie than 1987's Dirty Dancing — other than Breakin' 2, of course? Thanks, in part, to a killer soundtrack, it was the first film to ever sell a million copies on VHS, for whatever that's worth. At least tonight you won't have to try and track down a VCR to re-watch it. — CG
