Yesterday was Groundhog's Day, which means that, for the second day in a row now, we find ourselves leading things off with a mention of animal prognosticators. Hey, psychics are just more adorable when they're small and furry.

Anyhow, as you might know by now, famed groundhog Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, thereby forecasting another six weeks of winter lay ahead. Like we said yesterday, we can't vouch for the validity of Phil's prediction, though, once again we envisage grand times lay ahead for those of you fortunate to have access to the following tidbits. — Cory Graves

Forbidden Planet at The Magnolia
The 1956 classic, Forbidden Planet is a must-watch for anyone that considers themselves a Sci-Fi buff, largely because it's one of the most important early works in the genre, and one of the first film of its kind to be set entirely on another planet. The iconic Robby the Robot character was one of the most expensive props anyone in Hollywood had shelled out for up to that point, too, which explains why he was recycled by producers in several later science fiction films and Twilight Zone episodes. Funkwerks Launch Party at Common Table
One of the highlights of Dallas is the variety of things and places to drink. On that note, Fort Collins, Colorado brewery, Funkwerks, recently became available in Texas, and the brewery's owner and founder Brad Lincoln will be in Uptown tonight with the goods. Tuesday Tease Presents: A Comedy Roast at Sue Ellen's
Already, Sue Ellen's regular Tuesday night queerlesque events are some of the most consistently over-the-top drag events around, sure. Tonight, though, they're upping the ante even further, as performers like Miss Malicious, Jai L'Bait, Jimmy D'Stone, May May, Vivienne Vermuth, The Tasselled Squirrel and Gigi Byte will be doing routines popularized by other Sue Ellen's regulars. Yeah, the joke's probably funnier if you're a regular, but that's no reason to skip out on tonight's fun. — CG

Tuesday Night Trash: Chesty Anderson, U.S. Navy at Texas Theatre
The Chesty Anderson sequel is known less for being Fred Willard's stellar debut than it is for the starring role of Supervixen Shari Eubank as the busty, Mafioso-investigating paramilitary member. And lots of boobies, of course. — CG

Eddie Gomez at Dan's Silverleaf
Legendary double bassist and two-time Grammy-winner, Eddie Gomez, will be in Denton tonight. For over 40 years, Gomez has been impressing the world with his unique sound of jazz, classical, Latin-jazz and rhythm and blues with guys like Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Benny Goodman, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and extensively with Chick Corea and Bill Evans. In short, he's a treasure. — LR
