Watch The Texas Theatre Crew's Sweded Trailer For The Fall.

Credit where it's due: There are many bigger, better-funded theaterhouses in the region, but few of them have as much fun as the Texas Theatre does with, well, everything. Revered not just for its arthouse programming but also for its gallery exhibitions, behind-the-screen concert series and quirky, low-key atmosphere, the Texas Theatre is an entity that knows well what it is — a lot of things, really — and knows even better how to get that point across.

Case in point: The theater's now-annual screening and charity art auction hosted by sometime venue bartender and all-the-time noted Oak Cliff personality Susie Sue, which this year goes down on Friday, January 23, and will benefit the Peace for Elephants charity that works to keep elephants from being tortured as tourist attractions. Just as the theater's ownership and staff so gloriously did last year when it screened The Life Aquatic, the crew has again filmed a “sweded” trailer of its own for this year's screening, which will be Tarsem Singh's adored The Fall from 2006.

Anyway, you really need to check out the group's ever-charming efforts below. Appropriately, the villain here is a bro who loudly uses his cell phone throughout the course of a screening. (Head here to watch the original trailer for comparison's sake.)

Oh, and know this, too: Per the event's Facebook page, the theater's still seeking art pieces for its auction. Hit them up if you've got one you'd like to submit to the cause; the only rule is that the piece, in some way, can be connected to The Fall. If the above trailer interpretation tells us anything, though, it's that said connection can be fairly loose.
