If you're an adorable baby elephant, then your favorite activity is, in all likelihood, rolling around in the mud. If you're a person, then watching videos cute baby elephants roll around in the mud proves pretty damn entertaining, too.

Hop Chef Dallas at 3015 Trinity Groves
After gaining popularity over the years in places such as Philadelphia, Miami, Boston, Chicago and Washington, D.C., the food-and-beer-pairing competition will make its first appearance in Dallas. Here, it will find chefs from Whiskey Cake, Blind Butcher, The Common Table, Libertine, Meddlesome Moth and FM Smokehouse pairing dishes with a variety of Ommegang brews for a chance to win a serious prize package and bragging rights for the year. “We're thrilled to finally bring HopChef to Dallas and to kick off North Texas Beer Week with a night of beer, food and fierce-but-friendly competition,” Ommegang's Bill Wetmore told us recently. “The food and craft beer scenes in Dallas are hotter than ever, and we can't wait to see the culinary showdown unfold in the Big D.” — Porttia Portis

Oral Fixation: “Train Wreck” at Wyly Theatre
Four seasons in and Dallas' favorite storytelling series still has plenty of tales to tell. At tonight's “Train Wreck”-themed edition they'll do wonders for your post-Halloween hangover with yarns about an exceptionally disastrous honeymoon, a four-time ex-con rehabbing from meth and a literal wrecked train. As always, say the organizers, you can expect plenty of laughs. — CG

Ska heroes The English Beat will be ripping up Bob Marley posters performing tonight at Trees with Wilco-mining Dallasites The Honest Mistakes. I bet they play “Mirror in the Bathroom.” — Trace McCaslin

Wampire at City Tavern
Portland's Wampire unabashedly mines nostalgia on its meticulously-crafted pop rock gems. Think a slightly less psychedelic Tame Impala or a slightly less douchey Foxygen. Montreal pop quartet and Denton's Blessin' open. — CG

The Cutthroats 9 at Three Links
On its way to Fun Fun Fun Fest, The Cutthroats 9 will make a quick pit stop tonight. The band came to be when New York noise rock outfit Unsane called it quits in 2000, and frontman Chris Spencer moved to San Francisco to startup the noisy, alt-metal outfit, which he decided to name after an especially bloody '70s Spanish western. The like-minded Æges, and locals Bludded Head open. — CG
