Check Out New Tracks From War Party, Wesley Geiger, Party Static and Blue The Misfit.

Here's a little something-something to get you ready for the weekend — or, perhaps more accurately, four little something-somethings.

Below, we've amassed a collection of tracks from a handful of area acts we've fallen hard for in the past year. They're a varied bunch, and, in turn a testament to the wide variety of sonic excellence being put on blast locally these days.

Stream them all, download what you can, and, whatever you do, turn the volume on your players way up.

Enjoy.

Blue, The Misfit — “Riots & Rebels” (Free Download)

You expect killer beats whenever you're dealing with Dallas hip-hop production wizard Blue, The Misfit. What you don't necessarily expect, however, is something for nothing. And yet that's exactly what Blue's offering here as a thank you to the reception he's gained from area music fans in the wake of the release of his debut Child In The Wild LP. A leftover cut from that LP's sessions, “Riots & Rebels” continues the alluring vibes flashed on that album, albeit with some of the more sample-heavy production skills he'd shown in his earlier projects. “Remember me when I am gone,” he raps at one point, as if we possibly couldn't.

War Party — “Teenagers On Drugs” (Stream)

Last year, Fort Worth's War Party broke through in a big way as a North Texas band to watch thanks to the release of its debut Tomorrow's A Drag LP — an album chock full of memorable hooks and riffage galore. Now, on the heels of releasing arguably our favorite music video of 2014, the band's gearing up to release two new cuts as part of a six-band box set of seven-inches being released Washington D.C.'s Windian Records. One of those new tracks, which the band passes out way as a stream, finds War Party significantly upping the doo-wop portion of its doo-wop punk aesthetic — and rather delightfully at that.

Wesley Geiger — “As The Crow Flies” (Free Download)

The tallest and gangliest of the Texas Gentlemen, Wesley Geiger been slowly prepping his debut LP for a few years now and will finally release that album, called El Dorado, with a performance at the Kessler Theater on Friday, November 28. Before then, though, Geiger passes along “As The Crow Flies,” the well-worth-your-listen leadoff track to his country-tinged, Laurel Canyon-inclined introduction.

Party Static — “Oh Shit” (Stream)

Following up last year's This Isn't Music EP and the band's subsequent ascent to becoming one of Dallas' favorite live acts, Party Static is now gearing up to release its sophomore EP, the hilariously entitled My Cat Doesn't Like That, and teases that impending release with a track that the group first played live at our two-year anniversary bash last February. Oh shit, indeed.
