Check Out Lord Byron's Trippy, Must-See Debut Music Video.

Last night, at the second-to-last edition of DJ Blake Ward's long-running, rather free-form Tuesday night residency at Sundown at Granada, Ward — as he's often wont to do — yielded his stage to an up-and-coming Dallas musician we've been sweet on since first discovering him right around this time last year.

Clever move on Ward's part, too: With a new album on the way, verbose Dallas rapper Lord Byron drew dozens to the Lower Greenville spot on this night with the enticing offer of both a live performance and the debut screening of his first-ever music video. And, taking to the restaurant-cum-venue's stage shortly after 11 p.m. on this night and joined by a live backing band of five that provided his East Coast-inspired flows a jazzy, R&B-tinged base, Byron didn't disappoint. His performance was as impressive an offering as ever as he stalked the stage and nimbly maneuvered through his self-imposed lyrical minefield, never once stumbling, not even when he quite literally joined his listeners out in the audience by performing a song from a chair placed close by to the stage.

It was a showing that set the bar quite high for the performer — and perhaps set up the audience for something of a fall should Byron's Christian Vasquez-directed clip for new single “BY” not live up to that previous offering's hype.

Alas: The clip's trippy visuals very much did — and do — live up to the hype. Not bad considering that Byron's all of 22 years old and that Vasquez is all of 20.

Anyway, the point is that you really need to check out the clip, which we've embedded below. Then prepare yourself: Last year's hype surrounding Byron seems to have just been a precursor of what's still to come.
