The Dallas Cowboys Included Playoff Tickets In Packs Sent To Season-Ticket Holders. Yes, On Purpose.

Disregarding an inarguably bad defense that's been further decimated by the departure of a legend and the injury of an adored fixture; forgetting that the fact that the team has only a single playoff win since 1996; ignoring the dread that comes with three straight 8-8 seasons and no above-.500 years since 2009; paying no mind to the Vegas bookmakers that have head coach Jason Garrett as the odds-on favorite as being the first NFL coach fired this season; and tuning out the fact that this year's training camp attendance figures arguably point to a fanbase that's on the decline, the front office of the Dallas Cowboys somehow remains optimistic at its team's prospects for the coming 2014-2015 NFL season.

Here's your proof: This week, when the team mailed tickets to its season-ticket holders, it included a sheet of playoff tickets in the batch, as well as a ticket to a potential AT&T Stadium-hosted NFC Championship Game.

It's worth noting that this move comes in the wake of numerous NFL teams having trouble moving seats during the playoffs in recent years because of the tough turnarounds that come with schedules that can't be predicted. It's also worth pointing out that the team readily acknowledges that these included playoff tickets' barcodes are inactive as of now and that they won't become active until a) the team clinches its part in those games and b) the tickets themselves, which are not included in the cost of a season ticket, are paid for.

Still, the team is being praised for the move all the same by league and ticket-sales industry types, who see some efficiency and convenience in the matter. As such, other teams are expected to follow suit in future years.

For now, though, the NFL confirms that the Cowboys are the only team in the league bold enough to send out playoff tickets to its fans prior to this season's start.

Because this much is seemingly forever true: The Cowboys may wear silver and blue, but owner Jerry Jones wears glasses that are decidedly rose-colored.
