What's Your Glitch?

Florida strikes again!

Over the weekend, a group of Floridians was grilling in celebration of independence and somehow caught a Burmese python inside of their pit. Even stranger? The snake didn't burn alive. It's actually OK — and it's going to be released over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, where it will live to bite another day.

Too bad that snake couldn't chomp on tonight's happenings here in town. — Chase Whale

Reality Bites at Sundown
This week's showing at Sundown is Reality Bites, a movie about love, materialism and, well, the pains of growing up. The quintessential '90s flick finds Lelaina (Winona Ryder), the valedictorian of her college class, filming her friends in a mock documentary that, just maybe, could end up getting shown on an MTV-like station. That's when the trouble starts — and when our heroine must decide whether she's more into her materialistic muse (Ben Stiller) or her music-savvy crush (Ethan Hawke). As always, there's no cover charge to see the screening, and the whiskey's half off. — Ashley Gongora

Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen at House of Blues
Join Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen at the acoustic honky-tonk hoedown that goes down every year better known as the Hold My Beer & Watch This Tour. The name alone — I think? — is convincing enough. — Chrissi Chetwood

My Playground at the Dallas Center for Architecture
The Dallas Center for Architecture is screening My Playground as a part of its FitNation exhibition, which is “a show of projects from Dallas and beyond which incorporate design elements to encourage active lifestyles and healthy living.” My Playground explores Parkour, the monkey-like style of getting from Point A to Point B gracefully, which gained a lot of exposure to geeks in the French action film, District: B13. RSVP to [email protected] to guarantee your seat. A $10 donation is requested at the door. — CW

CHRISTHELMET at The Ochre House
Here's a new, exclusive play for Dallas stage lovers: The Ochre House theater is opening CHRISTHELMET tonight. The venue's original black comedy takes place in a dive bar in L.A. and is about friends with nothing in common except for the bar they hang at. Laughs are promised and the play runs until July 26. So you have time if you miss out tonight. — CW

Shotgun Friday at So & So's
Sfuzzi is gone from Uptown, and so too is Primo's. But all hasn't been lost: The driving forces behind Sfuzzi took over the Primo's space and rebranded it into So & So's, which, in just a few short months, has already established itself as one of Uptown's more palatable drinking establishments. And with a some effort from management, it's becoming something of a live music destination, too: Each Wednesday night, the bar goes country and invites local bands to take over its stage are. Tonight's act is Shotgun Friday, a band you've most likely seen performing during events are various breweries and beer-related events around the region. Yup: This is drinking music. — Pete Freedman
