Rock Me, Momma.
This week, 7-Eleven will celebrate its 87th birthday on Friday by giving away free Slurpees to its customers.
But while customers all over the country will surely gladly take them up on that offer, it'll be Dallasites that will well up with an extra bit of pride whilst sucking down their cups of frozen goodness. That's because the Oak Cliff-born chain was not only the first-ever convenience store, but the machine used to make Slurpees was created right here in our own backyard as well.
Still: free Slurpees don't necessarily have to be the highlight of your whole week.
Though they may be a high point for you, there's still lots else going on in North Texas the rest of this week to get excited about. — Cory Graves
