The Hood Store Is For Sale.
Well, here's a shocker: The Hood Store, a fairly bizarre and much-discussed-but-rarely-entered convenience store located near the intersection of Gaston and North Carroll avenues, appears to be up for sale.
In a recent Craigslist posting, someone seemingly involved in the shop's ownership says the spot can be yours for a cool (and, as stated, negotiable) $75,000.
Worth noting: That rate does not include ownership of the building — the listing is clear in saying that any new owners will still be subjected a monthly rent of $1,800 — but it does include all current inventory and equipment, so there's that.
Not familiar with The Hood Store? Yelp user Mike L. describes it as follows in his four-star review: “Sometimes you need a place to pick up a snack, a 'loosie' Marlboro or a refreshing beverage in 40 oz sizes. Maybe you just need a new pipe for your 'tobacco.' This is the place for you. Actually much cleaner and well organized than I expected, this little shop has everything a convenience store needs (and more). Parking is limited in front, but there is a lot on the right facing side. Store owner is friendly…so people don't fear this place….enjoy it.”
Alright, alright.
No word yet on where ownership currently is with the sale — or even if this posting is necessarily legit. Attempts to reach The Hood Store via either its listed number online or the number associated with the Craigslist post have not yet proven successful.
