Beck, Avett Brothers, Chvrches, Grouplove and More To Play Edgefest 24.

Yesterday at 5 p.m., every on-air personality at KDGE 102.1-FM The Edge crammed into the radio station's studio together and spent the following hour revealing the lineup for the “rock alternative” station's 24th EdgeFest concert.

On the one hand, it was an almost excruciatingly slow reveal. But, on the other hand, it was a pretty nice throwback: You don't really hear modern DJs just standing around and conversing with one another on the air like that any more, coming together over their shared excitement over music. And, to be sure, there were at least a handful of genuine moments of excitement to be had over the course of the 14-band announcement. Notably, the first-announced band on the bill, Chvrches, seemed cause for legit glee in the studio. Same with the fourth-announced act, the Avett Brothers. Same, also, for the final act revealed: Beck.

But as for the second band announced as being on the bill? Switchfoot? Well, let's just say that the Edge crew is best served remaining as DJs; their collective acting chops aren't exactly up to Juilliard standards.

Anyway. The whole thing goes down at Toyota Stadium in Frisco on Saturday, April 26. Tickets go on sale one week from today, on Friday, February 14.

The bill follows. For kicks, compare it to every single EdgeFest bill ever right here.
