Kick It With Wick-it The Instigator.
Now that New York Fashion Week has officially begun, several entities have already started trying to predict what hottest trends will be come fall.
According to CNN, all signs point to “cowboy chic.”
Kinda puts Dallas ahead of the curve, then, no?
We'd say so.
So, giddy up, Dallas. And, when you head out tonight, be sure to strut your stuff.
Wick-it the Instigator at Trees
The first time most folks first heard the Wick-it the Instigator name, the DJ/producer had just released a free-to-download mashup album that combined The Black Keys' Brothers LP with Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot. That release went viral — and it did so rather quickly. It makes sense: Like everyone else who has ever made it big in the mashup game, Wick-it has shown a knack for combining wildly popular, proven entities and releasing them during the apex of their mutually enjoyed admiration. Though he's attempting to gain some attention for his original hip-hop and dubstep production work moreso these days, you can still expect tonight's offering to be extremely remix-heavy all the same. — Cory Graves
'80s Night at Hailey's
For years, DJ Yeahdef's weekly '80s and '90s nights nearly singlehandedly kept Hailey's Club in business. At least, that's the way we remember it. Somewhere over the course of the past two years, though, the club lost its way — and, coincidentally, it was around this same time that the venue initially severed ties with the DJ. But we digress. Thanks to the club's new ownership, Yeahdef has re-launched what was once the hottest dance party in town. — CG
Drug Animal, Venetian Sailors at The Dram
Venetian Sailors head man Robbie Saunders is one of the most perennially underrated guitarists in town. When we last caught Saunders performing, he was sitting in with The Hazardous Dukes, whose guitarist was playing with another band out of town. Still, it was Saunders that the band asked to take the lead during its big closing number that night. And, much as the enigmatic Saunders shines fronting somebody else's band, he's even more of an effective a force when performing with his own group the Venetian Sailors. Drug Animal shares this intimate Henderson Avenue bill. — CG
Bernadette Peters at Meyerson Symphony Center
A veteran of both Hollywood and Broadway, Peters commands a lot of stage presence, and for good reason. Though she isn't one of the 11 people to have ever EGOT-ed, she's pretty damn close, having grabbed Tony and Grammy Awards along the way, as well as an Emmy nomination. Also? She performed once at the Academy Awards. Anyway, for the next three nights, she'll show off both her classical and Broadway abilities while performing the overtures to Rossini's William Tell and Bernstein's West Side Story, among others. — Porschia Paxton
