Before Tonight's Reunion at Pop That, Give The Party's First Mix Since '07 A Listen.
There's no doubt about it: We've been hyping the hell out of tonight's reunion gig from The Party at our recurring Pop That bash, which goes down tonight at the It'll Do Club.
At this point you should know why: In the mid-aughts, the DJ collective made up of Nature, Select and Sober was perhaps the big deal in the market — a unifying force behind which the too-often-fractured factions of the area music scene could all band together and get behind.
Our hope is that tonight's bash, which will cost a mere $3 to attend (guarantee your admission by buying your tickets in advance right here), will feature that same sweat-dripping, raucous sense of unity.
And we have every reason to believe that it will, too, if the below, new mix from The Party — the group's first since 2007 — is any indication. Featuring 20-minute sets from each of the collective's members (Select, Nature and Sober, in that order), this reunion mix — hosted by Picnictyme, who'll also be holding down hosting duties tonight — should very well give you all the final push you need to make sure your ass gets to the It'll Do tonight.
“It's definitely rowdy,” Sober tells us of the mix, which he and his old cohorts put together these past few days. “There are a few things in there that were Party staples — but only a little of that. It still has the same energy, though. And the same vibe, too, just updated for 2014.”
Sounds about right. Check it out below.
Then plan on coming out tonight, where we'll be dancing all the way through closing time. Doors open at 10. We'll see you there.
