Let Glazed Bring Its Doughnuts To You and Get Ready For Some Late-Night Uptown Thai Food.

Welcome to The Spread, our weekly feature that aims to share all the area restaurant, food and beverage industry news that's fit to print. Except, this is the Internet, so space isn't a concern. Also: Good thing, because this is Dallas and this town always has breaking restaurant news going down like whoa.

In the service industry, the winner of the game is the restaurant that ensures customer satisfaction no matter what — even when, say, the most convenient street from which to access your place of business is currently torn to bits.

Take, for example, Glazed Donut Works, which should get a big pat on the back for its commitment to keeping the doughnut fiends of the city happy in spite of the lingering construction that's left Deep Ellum's Elm Street looking all post-apocalyptic. Though the powers that be tell The Spread that they'll be closing on Tuesdays until construction wraps up sometime this summer, they also tell us that they'll be implementing a few changes to help facilitate fast and easy doughnut delivery.

For one, they'll continue to have their doughnut runners take called-in orders out to cars parked at any of the meters in front of Lula B's) on Main Street. They'll also start bringing the doughnuts to the masses in their new Short Pink Donut Bus beginning at some point in the next two weeks. Keep checking Glazed's Facebook page — or this column — for the latest.

Kudos are also in order for CrushCraft, which has given us more than a few reasons to be excited about its opening next Monday. Chiefly among them? Well, we can't wait for a truly authentic Thai fix in the Quadrangle at 3 a.m.

Speaking of Thai food: Remember when Pakpao Thai parted ways with its former chef Eddy Thretipthuangsin just after the spot was named one of the best new restaurants in town by Dallas Morning News? Well, this week, Thretipthuangsin made his next move known and, interestingly, it has little to do with Thai cuisine. Or Dallas, for that matter. In the near future Thretipthuangsin will be opening a restaurant of his own in Fort Worth's booming West 7th district called BITE. The chef says BITE will focus on modern American cuisine with global influences. The restaurant will feature dishes that are a far cry from traditional Thai food, such as racks of lamb and scallops with grits.

Hey, a change of pace can be a good thing: Back in Uptown, Pop Diner continued its commitment to customer satisfaction by extending its happy hours. No longer will patrons have to wait until mid-afternoon for drink specials, as the new times range from noon to 7 p.m., every Monday through Friday.

Finally, in opening news this week: Sushi Bayashi will be opening in Trinity Groves three to four months, and Bocce's Italian restaurant will open in Bishop Arts in mid-February.
