Decide To Walk With The Toadies.
If you're like most folks, you're probably in the final stages of committing to the list of resolutions you're planning on instituting to improve your life in the coming year. If you're anything like us, cutting back on smoking and/or drinking and losing weight and/or getting into better shape are all probably high on that list.
But you don't have too much time left before the world is introduced to the so-called “new you.”
Meaning?
Well, you're goal for today should be pretty clear: Head out on the town and eat, drink and smoke as much as humanly possible.
Toadies at Billy Bob's
It may be the world's largest honky tonk, but tonight the Toadies will be playing. rock. music. Sure, the Fort Worth-based band hasn't scored a major national hit in nearly 17 years, but they've remained one of the region's most popular touring acts all the same — enough so, at least, to sustain their own namesake festival for half-a-dozen years and counting. — Cory Graves
Seryn, Quiet Company at Kessler Theater
From the band's storied marathon soundchecks to its vast layering of harmonies and delicate instrumental accompaniment, every aspect of the Denton-based Seryn's live show is 100 percent intentional. As such, the pin-drop quiet, listening-room environment of the Kessler is perfectly suited for taking in the entirety of the group's intricacies. —CG
Trans-Siberian Orchestra at American Airlines Center
Are there multiple versions of Trans-Siberian Orchestra? If not, how does this outfit manage to tour basically the entire country in the span of the holiday season? I don't really get it. But, hey, we'll all have a chance to ponder that on tonight as the group takes its totally epic Christmas music to the AAC for this unfortunately timed, decidedly non-Christmas date. — Chelsea Upton
Azukiwashers at Three Links
In our experience, rather than racking our brains when trying to come up with descriptors for raucous Japanese acts, it's usually best to just cut and paste things that these groups have said about themselves. In this case it works particularly well: There's no way we could come up with anything nearly as eye-catching as “death metal pop invader from Far East” when trying to describe Japanese punk band Azukiwashers. Texan death metal duo I Am Warbird and Dallas rockers Dead Beat Poetry open. — CG
Adult Night at Legoland Discovery Center
Usually, the powers that be require any adult that's wishing to check out this Lego wonderland to bring at least one kid — except for one day out of the month. Lucky for you, today is that one day. Go check out all the Legos you can handle at this adults-only event. Make sure and get your tickets from the link above, though, or else they'll be $7 more expensive at the door. —Stephen Young
