Get Trashed.
In separate incidents this week, a San Antonio man threatened a waitress with a sword in an attempt to get free tacos, and another man in France pulled out an ax at McDonald's when he was served cold fries.
If somebody tears through a Pizza Hut with a bo staff tonight, then it would be a safe bet to assume that heaps of weapon-wielding diners will be quick to follow suit and take digestive matters into their own hands.
We're not saying it's definitely going to happen. But you might want to be careful out there tonight all the same.
Elm Street Tattoo Wig Party at Double Wide
Elm Street Tattoo's 24-hour Friday the 13th tattoo marathons are a pretty well-ingrained tradition in these parts. And, though it's a lesser-known affair, so too is the wig party that precedes each of those sessions. Every Wednesday before a Friday the 13th, Elm Street tattooers throw a wig-themed party and aim to stay up as late as they can, all in hopes of skewing their sleep clocks so much that they'll sleep all day Thursday and be fresh and awake when the calendar turns to Friday. Tonight, Trophy Wives and a special edition of Good Luck Karaoke onstage in the Double Wide's venue will make sure this party keeps rolling into the wee hours of the morning. — Melanie Shafranek
Cat Power at Trees
After releasing her first album in six years, Cat Power is on the prowl again (sorry!), and touring once more. A notoriously mercurial performer, it's anyone's guess what the indie darling's show tonight will end up being like. Nico Turner opens. —Trace McCaslin
Craft Night at AllGood Cafe
Ever wonder where all those oragami cranes and butterflies that hang from AllGood's ceiling came from? It was actually Polyphonic Spree choir member Stephanie Pirro that folded and hung them all back in 2009, when she was decorating the place to use for her wedding reception after she married Spree bassist Mark Pirro. At tonight's edition of the restaurant's weekly craft night, Pirro will be on hand to teach you the ins and outs of turning your own home into a paper crane paradise. — Cory Graves
The Texas Gentlemen at Sundown
For quite some time, we had been clamoring for the Texas Gentlemen — the crack group of Dallas musicians that provides the live backing bands for Larry g(EE), Kirby Brown and, in part, Dovetail — to branch out on its own and start grabbing the spotlight its players so justly deserve. So it's good to see that they have, indeed, been performing sets featuring various '60s and '70s country and classic rock covers sporadically over the past few months. Tonight, they'll be at Sundown, helping send off Jakob “Starma” Bowden before he moves off to Seattle. As always, the cover is free and the whiskey is half-price. — Pete Freedman
Trash Talk at Dada
After California hardcore outfit Trash Talk became the first non-hip-hop act Odd Future signed to its label last year, the band, which had been playing shows since 2005, almost immediately began endearing itself to a whole new audience. That said, the presence of both hardcore and hip-hop acts together on this bill isn't as much of a reach as it looks. Vulgar Display; Lord Byron; Blue, The Misfit; Estonia; and Sold Short make up the undercard. — CG
Game Night at Rubber Gloves
You know what sucks? Trying to play Cards Against Humanity with just two people. In fact, it's damn near impossible. Grab your deck, call up your buddies with the best expansion packs, and head up to Gloves tonight for a night of board game-related shenanigans. Cover is free and all wells/droughts are just a buck. — CG
