Put A Ring On It.
After three days trapped indoors, the local temps have finally begun to rise just enough to melt the last remnants of the weekend's temporary winter wonderland. And just in time, too: With the big Beyonce tour rolling through town for the second time in six months, it's good we won't have to worry about icy conditions or the threat of that event's cancellation.
And that's good news for all of us, as the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour looks to be a gravity-defying, meme-inspiring spectacle.
Beyonce at American Airlines Center
The embodiment of bootylicious doesn't really need an introduction for Round 2 of her “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.” If you saw her when she performed at the same venue back in July, not much has changed — save for the fact that she's in the early days of a pledged 22-day strictly vegan diet. Just know going in that, no matter how bad her Tex-Mex Jones gets tonight, she'll still put on an incredible performance. Hell, they don't just start calling you Queen Bey for nothing. — Jessica Petrocchi
The Fast and the Furious at Alamo Drafthouse
In the wake of the sudden loss of actor Paul Walker over Thanksgiving weekend, a couple of uncomfortable coincidences were brought to light. For one thing, cable channel Bravo was in the middle of airing a Fast and the Furious marathon when the tragedy occurred. Also? Wheel of Fortune aired an episode that featured a Fast puzzle that had been taped months prior. Of course, neither of those incidents were premeditated or done with prior knowledge to the situation. That said, though, is tonight's “Paul Walker Memorial” screening at Alamo Drafthouse coming a bit too soon? Perhaps. But the fact that tonight's proceeds are being donated to Walker's Reach Out WorldWide charity certainly makes for a handy shield when accusations of the event's poor taste start being bandied about. — CG
Cool Out at Crown and Harp
Joining Tony Schwa tonight for another cabin fever-curing edition of his long-running Monday night residency is DJ Clipp. Contrary to the event's name, these two will surely keep things on the dancefloor pretty hot tonight. #deathtoicemageddon — CG
DJ D-Bay at Twilite Lounge
Immediately following the Cowboys and Bears game — which will also be shown on the TVs at this spot — Twilite owner, local band bass player and local radio personality DJ D-Bay (read: Danny Balis) will be showing off his DJ skills as part of the bar's recently added all-vinyl Monday night offerings. — CG
