Get Your Punk Ass Off The Street.
Beyond just avoiding cabin fever and/or reviving one's self after dealing with co-workers or holiday shoppers all day, there's plenty of other reasons to get out of the house tonight. Chiefly among them is that you might be the lucky recipient of some of the goods that have been dropping out of the sky as of late.
Be it a stolen video camera that gets dropped by a thieving bald eagle, a stranger deciding to make it rain for no reason at all, a misdelivered package accidentally dropped by one of Amazon's new drones, or just hundreds of pounds of pot, there's a better than zero chance you'll get lucky tonight.
Third Eye Blind, TEAM* at House of Blues (Sold Out)
Whether the impetus for tonight's 3EB show has anything to do with the mounds of legal fees and settlements owed to former members, or just the fact there really are several thousand people left in North Texas still clamoring to hear “Semi-Charmed Life” performed live, is beyond us. This show did manage to sell out, though, for whatever that's worth. The bigger appeal tonight might be local upstarts TEAM*, which will use tonight's date of their December run with '90s rockers to release their debut EP. — Cory Graves
Polar Bear Club at Sons of Hermann Hall
This band of Upstate New York post-hardcore devotees have been pretty unapologetic over the years in their veneration for Hot Water Music — even going so far as to employ for their own discs producers who've worked with that Chuck Ragan-led outfit in the past. Their fourth LP, November's Death Chorus, is full of the soaring vocal melodies and lighthearted lyrics Polar Bear Club has built its reputation upon, with a little bit of the added wistfulness one might expect from a pop-punk-tinged group that's begun to realize they've been together for over a decade now. — CG
Funniest Comic in Texas Battle at Addison Improv
The eight comedians performing at tonight's competition represent the second round of talents — assembled by club owners from around the state — trying to earn a spot in the December 15th finals, which will be held at the same venue. Texas funny-people Jason James, Clint Werth, Linda Stogner, Ryan Perrio, Clifton Hall, Ryan Cownie, Mac Blake and Alex “KoolAid” Ansel will perform/compete tonight. — CG
The Showdown at Sundown
Joining resident DJ Blake Ward for his Tuesday-night weekly tonight is the nigh-universally adored local rap-game newcomer Lord Byron and Dallas Observer clubs editor Vanessa “DJ Pronail Princesa” Quilantan. As always, cover is free and droughts are half off. — CG
