Guit Down With Gary Clark, Jr.
While some of us are preparing for the first evening of Chanukah tonight, others will prepare to make the trek back home for tomorrow afternoon's Thanksgiving feasting.
But let's make note: Today's unusual confluence, which many have dubbed “Thanksgivukkah,” is unique in that it hasn't happened since the '50s (well, in Texas at least, as Texas used to celebrate Thanksgiving on a different schedule than the rest of America for some odd reason). And, weirdly, it's possible it may never happen again.
So, that said, where will you be spending your Thansgivukkah eve? Just remember to choose wisely. You'll probably only get one crack at it in your lifetime, after all.

Tonight marks the venue's annual “Thanks For Giving” concert at the venue, meaning the $10 and can of food costs of admission to this one will all be donated to area shelters in order to help feed less fortunate individuals this Thanksgiving. And what better concert to kickoff your Thanksgiving holiday than with a band that has songs called “Eat Steak,” “Turkey Gotta Gobble,” and “Let Me Teach You How to Eat.” — Cory Graves

“You're gonna know my name by the end of the night,” Clark sang early in his set at this summer's Dia de Los Toadies festival. And, indeed, the crowds did: Later in the night, when Clark started in on his more famous hits, “Ain't Messin Round” and “Bright Lights,” it brought on roaring applause and the crowd began chanting his name. Clark's only got one formal studio LP to his name (2012's Blak and Blu), but he's already has made a name for himself as one of the state's greatest live acts, even earning the praise of our commander in chief, President Barack Obama, who once called Clark “the future” of music. Wednesday Night Jam (Seventh Anniversary) at The Prophet Bar
We've lost count of the number of times a Central Track writer has referenced The Prophet Bar's Wednesday night jam session being the best weekly event in all of North Texas. Even so, they'll certainly be upping the ante tonight for this special seventh anniversary edition, which, unlike most weeks, will be held in the venue's big room. House band The Gritz will use the occasion to mark the release of their long-in-the-works LP, Pay Your Tab, and “special celebrity guests” have also been promised. At this point, you should be able to guess to which queen of neo-soul that likely refers. — CG
