Karl Lagerfeld Sets Date, Venue for Dallas-Hosted Chanel Show.

Back in January, Chanel head designer and creative director Karl Lagerfeld stunned the fashion world somewhat, announcing that his company planned to stage a pre-collection runway show in Dallas.

Details were scant at the time, as neither a date nor a venue for the event was announced. But, in the British Vogue piece in which he dropped the bombshell, Lagerfeld stressed the importance of the city to his company's brand all the same, explaining how his inspiration for the show had been the fact that that the American press — and, in particular, the Dallas-based Neiman Marcus store — was so influential in Coco Chanel's post-war 1950s resurgence.

Anyway, this week, Lagerfeld finally followed through on his word: Chanel's Dallas event will take place on Tuesday, December 10, in Fair Park. The announcement comes in the wake of a July Chanel show in Paris, which found 31-year-old, Irving-born model (and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter actress) Erin Wasson serving as the show's closing walker.

In addition to a traditional runway affair, the company also announced that the Metiers d'Art show in Dallas will be preceded by the screening of a new, dramatic 30-minute film called The Return, which tells the story of Chanel's indebtedness to the American press and purchasing public. A preview of that film can be found at the bottom of this post.

Also, we should note: Watching the below-posted preview might be the closest that most Dallasites get to this event. A representative at the Chanel Boutique in Highland Park assures us that the show is not an open-to-the-public affair.

“[The attendees] are all Paris-invited,” the employee said. “Tickets are not available to the general public.”

Guess that doesn't mean you can't still try to crash it anyway, though.
