Rangers Pitcher Derek Holland Will Have a Cameo In The Dumb & Dumber Sequel.
According to reports from ESPN and Sports Illustrated, as well as his own and the Farrelly Brothers' Twitter accounts: Rangers starter Derek Holland is set to appear in Dumb and Dumber To, the proper sequel to the Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels starring 1994 cinematic masterwork, Dumb and Dumber.
Holland — who's coming off the best year of his career — was asked to appear in the film's opening scene after the Farrellys caught Holland and then-teammate Justin Grimm's recreation of the first movie's iconic tuxedo scene.
Though Holland doesn't have any lines in the film, the left-handed starting pitcher tells ESPN that he can still be clearly recognized in the film.
“There's no haircut or anything like that,” he said.
Beyond that, Holland is keeping mum on the details.
“I'm thrilled to death,” he said in that same ESPN interview. “I'm very, very, very excited. I can't really say too much. I have to keep it a secret. But it's my favorite movie.
The cameo is just the latest addition to Holland's already deep resume, which includes a spot-on impersonation of Will Ferrell impersonating Harry Caray and, y'know, pitching the greatest game in Rangers history.
The concern trolls (read: Randy Galloway and Mac Engel) will surely go after Holland for screwing around all off-season as soon as he has his first bad start in 2014, but we're all for this move.
After all, even Mr. Ranger himself, Tom Grieve, starred in a Ramones video.
