The future of booze is now. Or, at least it will be very soon, if a certain Kickstarter project gets funded.
Meet Brewbot, the beer-making robot-like thingamajig. No longer does making one's own homebrew have to be such a complicated, time-intensive project. As far as we can tell, the thing totally handles all the actual beer-making and beer-making know-how for you. Do what Brewbot's corresponding smart phone app tells you, then walk away and wait for that oh-so-magnificent fermentation process to work its magic.
Until your soon-to-be new favorite appliance actually gets manufactured, though, it looks like you'll have to go out in public to grab yourself a cold one. Weak sauce, we know, but at least there's lots of good places in town that make the act more than bearable.
MS MR at House of Blues
Since releasing their debut full-length back in May, New Yorkers Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow have become fixtures on television, with their dreamy dark wave tunes having appeared in shows or promos for such shows as Pretty Little Liars, Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones and, most recently, Late Nite With Jimmy Fallon. That being said, the self-proclaimed electroshock outfit is very much on the rise, and you can bet we're not going to miss out on this one. — Jordyn Walters
Frightened Rabbit at The Prophet Bar
From the first note of the band's stop through town last April, Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchinson captured the audience's attention in full. And, it should be noted, that was no small feat: This was a huge crowd — like a nowhere-to-stand-without-bumping-into-someone-else crowd, even in the bathrooms. It was that big of an audience. And even though the band is known for its emotive indie rock, the night maintained a merry atmosphere thanks to frontman Scott Hutchison's comedic relief between songs — every song. And throughout the 90-minute set, the audience met the beginning of each song with a cheer. They sang along for each one, too. — Mikel Galicia
Reignwolf at Dada
The Seattle-by-way-of-Saskatoon guitar virtuoso Jordan Cook has been called things like “the greatest guitarist player no one's heard of,” a “mega-star,” a “howling shredder,” and a “one-man rock show” by various music rags from around the country. While that sounds like a lot to live up to, the mastermind behind the three-piece rock outfit Reignwolf stands poised to deliver, having recently opened a string of dates with the Pixies with only one officially-released track to his name. Get in on the ground floor with this guy and tell your friends you saw him way back when, before he was selling out arenas. — Cory Graves
Vinyl Tap at Double Wide
Kick it old school at the Double Wide tonight, where you can buy, sell, swap, play and hear records and tapes with fellow music lovers.
