Sure, it''s generally known as one of the most groggy, dreaded days of most weeks, but there's at least one surefire way to make yourself feel somewhat better about your situation today.
Just think: Unlike thousands of kids today, it's not your first day of school. (Unless you are a kid and it is your first day back to school, in which case you should probably put your phone away before it gets taken by the teacher.)
Remember how bad it used to be when your months of freedom came to a screeching halt? It was the worst. So keep our younger counterparts in mind today: At least you're not them. And at least you've got these kickass things to look forward to tonight.
Cool Out at Crown & Harp
The club may have a new name, but to the crowds of service industry folks and dancefloor junkies who've been flocking to DJs Tony Schwa's Monday night offerings since circa 2007, not much else has changed. Since returning to its original location this weekly dance party has been thriving more now than ever. Tonight's edition will be a little different, too: Special boogie guests Miami Players Club and the 12-piece Psychic Mirrors will be on hand, performing live sets in the venue's downstairs room, which will serve as the weekly's temporary home tonight. Also temporary: There's a cover at this week's go — just $2, though, and totally worth it when you map out the cost-per-performer ratio. — Cory Graves
Meat Wave, The Ridgelands and Curvette at Rubber Gloves
Headlining act Meat Wave actually derived its name from an old The Onion headline, so you might imagine that the Chicago post-punk trio don't take itself too seriously. But the grungy wall-of-sound the band cranks out isn't to be laughed off. Oh, and remember: You may be in Denton, but you still can't light one up during the band's song “Keep Smoking,” as Gloves joined the city's growing non-smoking movement a few months back. — CG
Dallas Women's Equality Rally and March at Belo Garden
All over the country today, tens of thousands of women are gathering in celebration of the women's liberation movement that began in the 1800s. In Texas, the marches will perhaps take on a slightly different tone in light of our government's most recent blows to women's rights. — CG

The powers that be require any adult wishing to check out this Lego wonderland to bring at least one kid — except for one day out of the month. Lucky for you, today is that one day.
