Bentley and Bella Are Dogs In Love.

Welcome to our weekly SPCA of Texas Spotlight post in which we take a look at some of the “VIP” pets under the SPCA of Texas' watch. What's it mean when a pet earns the “VIP” designation? Sadly, it means that they've been available for adoption for over 30 days. Let's do what we can to keep their wait from stretching out any longer, OK?

This week we hung out with little Bentley, 5, and Bella, 3, who are pretty much the two best dog friends that anyone could have. Sadly, though, these 10-pound rat terrier mixes have been at the SPCA since April.

Why? Well, probably because these two are pair-bonded, which means that they have to be adopted into the same forever home. Pair-bonded dogs just become too stressed without each other, so they can't be separated.

In the case of these two, it also means that they're doggie soul-mates.

Which is which? Bentley is the one with the oh-so-manly long, white hair, and Bella is the pretty princess with her shorter black and tan coloring.

The reason for their previous owner giving up the two sweethearts is unclear, and, honestly, after see how happily Bentley and Bella bop around the yard together, I personally can't see any good reason. These two are friendly to people, to other dogs and to cats. Even better? They're house- and crate-trained.

They also really don't need a lot of toys to entertain themselves, and their itty-bitty legs can't really handle super long walks. Another perk? Their wiry hair means that they can be bathed less often than most dogs before they get super smelly.

So these two are pretty low maintenance. And they can't wait to find a new family to call their own.
