A Step-by-Step Guide On Getting Into That Free Red Bull Sound Select Show with Erykah Badu on 7/26.
As you probably already know, we here at Central Track are getting together with Spune Productions and Red Bull to launch a series of monthly concerts here in town over these next few months. And we're kicking off the Red Bull Sound Select series in Dallas with a free July 26 show at the Prophet Bar.
Dustin Cavazos will be there. So will Larry g(ee). And, yes, Dallas' own neo-soul high priestess, Erykah Badu, will be headlining the whole thing, her Cannabinoids in tow.
But the question remains: Free or not, how do you get into the show exactly? Excellent question! Glad you asked!
Basically, the artists themselves are going to choose the fans that get into the show. But, in order for them to even know to pick you, you have to do a few things first.
1. The first thing's first, you need to click this link.
2. Once you've done that, you're going to want to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Request A Ticket” button.
3. After making your request, you'll be guided through a series of prompts that will link your various social media accounts to Sound Select. Accept these prompts.
4. Since the artists are going to be selecting the fans that get in, you can increase your chances of catching their eye by broadcasting highlights of your support of local music — and of the featured artists specifically — to your network. For instance: You could post a photo from Badu’s birthday bash at the Granada to Twitter or tell the world how much you love Cavazos’ “Leaves in the Wind†on Facebook. Just make sure you use the #soundselect hashtage when you do.
5. Keep adding stuff until Friday, July 12, when the selection window closes. Then, hopefully you’ll get one of the coveted spots.
Make sense? Hope so! Listen: The process is maybe a bit convoluted, but five minutes of your day is better than dropping the $20-plus that a ticket like this might normally cost you. Unless you make $240 an hour, in which case: Can we have your job?
Anyway, stick with it guys. The show — and the series that follows is — will be totally worth it.
