Danny Brown To Headline Third Annual Gorilla Vs. Bear Festival.
In an eagerly awaited — well, ever since the festival was announced just this Tuesday, at least — announcement, Gorilla vs. Bear and the Granada announced today that Detroit not-rapper Danny Brown will headline the third annual Gorilla Vs. Bear Festival at the Lower Greenville venue on Friday, August 23.
It's a nice, if interesting, booking. After being subjected to a rude crowd at the Palladium and subsequent Twitter abuse in April of last year, Brown vowed never to perform in Dallas again.
Clearly, though, the performer has forgiven our city. He's hit the Metroplex twice since then, performing an electrifying opening set for Baauer at Trees this past April and teaming up with Schoolboy Q to support A$AP Rocky last November.
As for who else is playing this year's affair, GVB founder Chris Cantalini tells us that rest of the festival's bill should be announced next week, possibly as early on Monday.
In the meantime, tickets for the fest are already on sale for $29 a pop after fees. Even without the rest of the bill publicly in place at the moment, you may want to go ahead and get your passes now, as sales are sure to ramp with the announcement of the rest of the sure-to-be-stout lineup.

Update on Monday, July 1: The full lineup has now been announced. Joining Danny Brown on this year's bill are Blue Hawaii, Haerts, Empress Of and Booty Fade. Booty Fade's DJ Sober will also spin between sets.
