It's already May? The hell? Where did April go?

Maybe April was just too fun, too jam-packed with awesome things, that we've barely had time to breathe, let alone rest and realize that it's over.

But who needs sleep, anyway? With graduation looming around the corner for some, and others eagerly anticipate a beautiful segue into summer with countless music festivals popping up around the region, May is possibly shaping up to be even more awesome than April.

So let's pick ourselves up by the bootstraps, head out tonight and kick off May properly. Because, fuck it, some of us are still young.

Pure X, Madras and Son of Stan at the Live Oak
Formerly known as Pure Ecstasy — they changed their name to Pure X for legal purposes — this Austin-based band is hitting the road in support of their latest album, Acephale, which comes just one year after their highly acclaimed debut album, Pleasure. As for that first record>? Pitchfork said it was “a terrific-sounding record, built for headphones and high volume.” Can't make it out to the Fort to catch them tonight? Catch them on May 25 at the Granada.

Pop-Up Party in the Parklet
The movable pop-up park, first launched back in 2011, will be hitting up the corner of St. Paul and Bryan streets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m today. Take a break from the confines of your cubicle and head out for a lovely afternoon of music and fun. Venetian Sailors, Cody Foote, Dezi 5, Diamond Kings and Mary Walker will all be performing for your listening pleasure.

Mount Moriah, Telekinesis and Pageantry at Dan's Silverleaf
Merge Record labelmates Mount Moriah and Telekinesis are hitting the road together this spring. While the former is out supporting their sophomore album, Miracle Temple, Telekinesis is drumming up interest for his recently dropped third LP, Dormarion. Denton's Pageantry rounds out this lofty bill.
