Humor David Sedaris.

It was the best of Tuesdays, it was the worst of Tuesdays.

Meaning? Well, though this Tuesday doesn't have many shows for you rock 'n' rollers, it's about as good as days get for you literary folks out there.

To wit: The most popular humorist of modern times is stopping by one end of town, a book party's going down at another, and, out a ways, there's even a book signing by a pretty famous tattoo lady.

To be fair, if you really cannot live a day without your music fix, you still have options. But to my fellow bookworms, I say rejoice, for this is the night we paint the town red.

So blow out that candle and worm your way out of that snuggie.

There are things we must do.

David Sedaris at Winspear Opera House
You know David Sedaris. He's Mr. Funnyman Writerguy. His writing has appeared, among other places, in Esquire and The New Yorker, and he's a regular contributor to National Public Radio's “This American Life.” But this humorist is perhaps most famous for his books of essays and loose nonfiction. Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls, his latest, hits the streets today, and, just our luck, he's in Dallas to celebrate the occasion. Let us give him some love then, yes?

Party In The Park at Main Street Garden Park
Wait. A book party? Not an oxymoron, turns out: Downtown Dallas, Inc. is putting this shindig together in honor of World Book Night. Have some drinks, read your favorite book and join the conversation about Fahrenheit 451.

Kat Von D Book Signing at Barnes & Noble
The tattoo goddess and former Mrs. Oliver Peck has taken her ink off the skin and onto some paper, and she'll be signing copies of her new Go Big or Go Home: Taking Risks in Life, Love, and Tattooing at the Northwest Highway Barnes & Noble tonight.

Oral Fixation at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary
You know the drill by now with Nicole Stewart's monthly storytelling series: Real-life Dallasites with stories to tell bravely stand up in front of strangers and share those true tales, live. Each month, there's a theme, and this month's theme is missed the boat, which is fittingly vague and expansive, per Oral Fixation protocol. Will the stories treat the theme literally? Will they approach the top from a more analogous perspective? The possibilities, one could say, are titanic.

The O's at Good Records
Don't folk around. Go to Good Records tonight at 8 p.m. and see The O's perform for free on Good Records' AstroTurf stage. Then buy the new O's disc, Thunderdog, at the counter. That's how these things work.

Bullet For My Valentine at the House of Blues
People must be enjoying this British metal band's fourth studio release, Temper Temper, which earned its release just a little ways back — in early February, to be exact. I know this because this show in support of the new album has been sold out for a few days now. Sorry, suckers!

The See, RTB2 and Daniel Markham at Dan's Silverleaf
A writer at the Arkansas Times called the touring headliners atop this bill “the kings of Little Rock's current landscape of bands” in 2010, remarking that such distinction was “just about inarguable” as he did. Coincidentally, that's the same year that RTB2 won the Best Group award at the Dallas Observer Music Awards. So it's king against king at this rock-heavy affair. Kind of like Game of Thrones? Sure, in which case we're putting money on Daniel Markham to take the crown. Sometimes, even a small man can cast a very large shadow.
