Scenes From Last Night's Summer Set and We Are The In Crowd Show at the House of Blues.

Lest anyone in the crowd forgot it, every band on last night's bill at the House of Blues' Cambridge Room was quick to remind them: This show featuring We Are The In Crowd, The Summer Set, Go Radio and For the Foxes was was coming to this audience as part of the so-called “Wake Up and Be Awesome” tour. And, as the bands would also frequently remind their crowd, it was also the final night of the tour.

That last bit did add a little something extra to the offering. Closing shows like these then to be sentimental affairs. Shows have been played, friendships have been made and, no matter how heavily the allure of home might beckon, nostalgia still reigns supreme.

So, too, does a certain level of informality. The Summer Set showcased that much with particular gusto, too. During an earlier-in-the-night meet-and-greet session, a fan courageously walked up to the band, told them he knew how to play their song “Chelsea” on guitar, and brazenly asked the band if he could join them on stage to play the track. To both the fan and the rest of the crowd's surprise, the band agreed. At the end of their set, the band finally played that song — but not before inviting that fan onto the stage and having him switch places with guitarist Josh Montgomery, who took the fan's place in the excited crowd.

That, of course, was an extremely fun way to end the night. But it wasn't all that out of place from the rest of the night's events, as For the Foxes, Go Radio and We Are the In Crowd each offered up fun pop-punk sets. Thee only surprising thing, really, was the fact that the show took place in the tiny Cambridge Room confines. These are bands with substantial Dallas fan bases. Still the crowds shoved into the cramped Cambridge room, and no one complained much about it.

Actually, in the end, that cramped feel only helped with the show's fun vibe. Hey, if you're going out to a show, you might as well get all up in it.
