Who the hell needs SXSW with all the bands playing Dallas this week? Seriously, it seems like most of the bands we wanted to see at that over-hyped, over-exploitative music festival down south will be gracing Dallas with their presence this week anyway.
So don't stress out about missing this year's SXSW, OK? Instead, focus on the beauty that is staying local. Whether you're in the mood for some psych-rock or some smooth R&B, tonight's got you covered.
The Zombies at the Kessler
Tonight, the English take over some of Dallas' popular music venues in town, starting with these legendary psychedelic rockers responsible for the great “Time of the Season,” among others. Muse at the ACC
The progressive rockers from across the pond will hit up the American Airlines Center tonight as part of their North American tour in support their 6th studio album, The 2nd Law. Fun fact: “Madness,” the band's first single on that aforementioned album has been selected as the official song for the NCAA's upcoming March Madness. Because, well, duh.
Wednesday Night Jam Session at the Prophet Bar
If you’re down for a smooth change of pace, look no further than the Prophet Bar, which tonight, per usual, will play host to its weekly R&B/hip-hip/jazz jam session, which remains among the best weeklies in the city. Tonight's affair will be an especially good one, too, as The Gritz will be joined by frequent jam session guest Raheem DeVaughn. Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band at the Granada
The singer-song writer is heading out on tour — and, yes, that includes a trip to SXSW– in support of his latest release, the deeply personal The Beast in its Tracks. This show too is sold out.
Spindrift and Gram Rabbit at The Where House
Spin Drift and Gram Rabbit take a break from their tour and upcoming SXSW performance schedules to engage in a night of electronica and psychedelic rock in Fort Worth. Ronnie Heart, and Ethereal & The Queer Show help round out tonight's bill.
