Fourth Annual HomeGrown Music and Arts Festival To Go Down on Saturday, May 11.
Nice timing, HomeGrown Festival: Literally moments before we get set to unveil a deluge of stories focused on the impending 35 Denton fest, you go ahead and swipe the local music festival spotlight, if only for a moment.
The festival's spotlight-stealing reveal? Oh, just that it's coming back for the fourth, mainly, as anticipated. And that, this time, it'll go down on Saturday, May 11, back at its home base in the friendly confines of Main Street Garden Park.
Also? Well, the bill will feature 15 bands, all of them with Texas ties, although none have yet been announced.
Says talent buyer John Solis of the lineup, which will begin being formally announced come Tuesday, March 19 : “All we can really share about the lineup for now is that our headliner has actually never played in Dallas before.”
Interesting.
Similarly of note: Advanced tickets will run $17 (they'll be $25 at the door) and will be available for online purchase “soon” via Prekindle. Kids under 10 need not buy any tickets, though; those lucky bastards get in free of charge (assuming they're accompanied by an adult, one imagines).
Check out the press release announcing the above posted below.

DALLAS, TX, March 5th, 2013 – The 4th Annual HomeGrown Festival will once again fill vibrant downtown Dallas with music and art on Saturday, May 11th. Dallas’ first ALL local music and arts outdoor festival, now expanded to include many great bands with ties to Texas, continues to prove itself an annual celebration of HomeGrown music, art and fun. This one-day festival takes place at Main Street Garden Park, located at 1900 Main St. (between Harwood and St. Paul).
The lush lawns, gardens and fountains of Main Street Garden Park scream music festival especially if you throw in live art demonstrations, a dog park, and local vendors selling art, wares, food and beverages. Homegrown Festival has continued to fulfill on this promise drawing universal praise from the community for last year’s festivities:
“It was like something out of a dream. An oasis within the concrete canyons of downtown Dallas, a small patch of green — Main Street Garden — given over to live music, food trucks, artists and people, milling about beneath early summer sunshine…. The vibe was not unlike a backyard gathering that just happened to take place in the middle of the city.†Preston Jones, DFW.com
“Homegrown Festival proved yet again that it's Dallas’ best outdoor music fest. The lineup was eclectic, offering DFW music listeners a night they wouldn't find at a local venue. We say farewell to 2012’s Homegrown Fest, already anxiously awaiting next summer’s event.†– Brenna Rushing and Jessica Harp, Pegasus News
“What's not to like, really? Homegrown's a good, fun, family- and even dog-friendly time, right in the heart of Downtown Dallas…. And there's really nothing like this affair once the sun goes down; watching a band perform immediately under the Dallas skyline is always a trip, and a singular event worth looking forward to each year.†– Pete Freedman, Central Track
The 4th Annual HomeGrown festival will again feature 15 acts with ties to the state of Texas performing many genres and styles of music on two main stages. “All we can really share about the lineup for now is that our headliner has actually never played in Dallas before, and the first round of bands will be announced on March 19th, 2013†says John Solis, Talent Buyer, HomeGrown Music and Arts Festival.
Tickets will be available on Tuesday, March 19th via LOCAL, online ticket outlet Prekindle (www.prekindle.com). Tickets purchased in advance of the festival are only $17 and will be $25 at the gate the day of event. As a family friendly bonus, kids under the age of 10 are absolutely FREE!
