Spring Into Wednesday Night.
Spring is coming.
In fact, it’s knocking on our doors, messing with our allergies and throwing our weather patterns all out of whack.
On the other hand, this elusive mistress will soon replenish our days with an extra hour of sunlight, which is great for “outdoorsy” types that like to get drunk out on the porch, sitting in a rocking chair. You know who you are.
But you don't have to wait until the 20th to celebrate the Spring Equinox. If you want, you can celebrate it tonight at one of these affairs.
Volbeat at the Palladium
Denmark's Volbeat kicks off their international tour tonight at the Palladium Ballroom. These head-banging dudes hitting to road to support their upcoming fifth studio album and celebrate the latest addition to their band — former Anthrax lead guitarist Rob Caggiano, who split with the legendary thrash metal group earlier this year.
Ryan Thomas Becker & Last Joke, Cozy Hawks and I'm The One Who's Fighting at J & J's Pizza On the Square
Grabbing a slice, a cold drink and checking out this unofficial 35 Denton kickoff party on the Square definitely looks like a nice way to transition into the much-anticipated spring music festival that starts tomorrow. Plus, two of these bands are pretty great. We won't tell you which we mean, though.
Bryce Lawson, Dillon Bartel and Tommy Hernandez at The Dram
The Dram is blowing up with DJs tonight — and welcoming the first out-of-town guest to their Wednesday night weekly in the process. Bryce Lawson of Freak the Disco — all the way from Miami — will join resident host Blake Ward, plus Dillon Bartle and Tommy Hernandez, behind the decks.
Blondes Have More Fun with DJ Sober and Fourcolorzach at the Crown and Harp
DJ Sober and 2012 Red Bull Thre3Style World Champion Fourcolorzach — two blonde bombshells, to be sure — will be join forces at this sure-to-be fun affair. [Insert dumb blonde joke here.]
Planet Asia and Gensu Dean’s Listening Party at the Slip Inn
The Slip Inn's bringing a little something extra to its Classic Wednesdays weekly tonight — an exclusive chance to listen to Gensu Dean and Planet Asia's Abrasions LP, which has been gaining some national recognition of late. Oh, and 7evenThirty's hosting.
