The Dozen Or So Bands You Won't See at This Year's 35 Denton After All.

It's a story as old as festival time: Names drop off of bills after getting announced.

Hey, things happen. And, if the names are small, no one really cares. Other times, as happened last year, The Jesus And Mary Chain have visa issues and everyone freaks the fuck out until they get their show rescheduled for a couple of days after the fact.

This year's 35 Denton festival hasn't been immune to the cancellation bug. In something of a slow trickle, some the bigger-name bands previously announced to play this year's festival have already quietly dropped off the bill. Among these names? Both Black Moth Super Rainbow and King Khan & The Shrines, each of which was announced in the festival's very first reveal back in October, dropped off the list before even February came around.

More recently, Camera Obscura has also backed out of their commitment. That band, unfortunately, even canceled their whole March tour after an illness in the band's family.

As a whole, the list of bands that have already backed out of this year's 35 Denton offerings isn't super long, no. But, as a number of these acts were definitely crowd-pulling names, their disappearance from the bill is unfortunate, to say the least.

By our count, here's that list of cancellations in full:

Granted, some of these bands have been replaced by others such as Pallbearer, Beach Fossils, Nitemoves Brain Gang, Enjoy, Expo 70, Holler Time and Los Patos Poderosos. But here's hoping none of the many other, definitely great, bands booked to the bill drop off at this point.

I mean, I think we'd all be pretty depressed if Solange all of a sudden had to go blow dry her hair or something.
