SMU's Margus Hunt Impresses at NFL Combine, Potentially Projects As a First-Round Pick.
If you're an NFL superfan, you've no doubt been following the NFL Network's non-stop coverage of this week's NFL Combine, wherein NFL scouts conduct various player performance tests with some of the college game's top prospects in advance of April 24's NFL Draft. And, surely, you've come across a name with local ties: Southern Methodist University defensive lineman and all-around stud, Margus Hunt.
The native Estonian shined in his combine workouts this week, showing off his sheer size (a crazy-tall 6-foot-8 1/8 and a full 277 pounds) and insane abilities (he ran a 4.60 40-yard dash, posted a 34.5-inch vertical leap, and tied the combine high of 38 bench press reps at 225 pounds). As a result, various outlets are straight fawning over him this week, calling the former track-and-field star “the talk of the combine,” “sensational,” and even a potential first-round pick.
