Dive Into Thursday with Mike Doughty at the Kessler.
Yes, the weekend is almost at hand.
And while it looks oh so sweet, sitting right there on the immediate horizon, let us not dwell on the countdown to Friday. Instead, let's focus on the beauty that is Thursday.
Tonight, we have a diverse list of events going on. So man up and celebrate the crafty little mistress of the weekend that is this evening.
Mike Doughty at the Kessler
Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty will be performing at the Kessler tonight. Fun fact about Doughty: He was once approached to write and record a new song for the hugely popular Twilight franchise. The song, titled “Dive into the Un,” was eventually rejected due to its subject matter, though. But I guess that's just what happens when you write songs about goth kids dropping LSD and stealing porn from train station newsstands.
Siberian Traps Album Release at The Live Oak
Siberian Traps, Fort Worth's self-proclaimed psych-cowboy-rockers, will celebrate the release of their latest album, Blackfoot, tonight in the Fort. A $10 cover charge will not only get you in the door, but also get you a fresh copy of the record and a chance to catch the Longshots and Skeleton Coast, too.
This Will Destroy You and Botany at Dan’s Silver Leaf
This will be your last chance to catch TWDY before they head out on an international tour of Asia and Australia in support of their sophomore album, Tunnel Blanket.
Foxtrot Uniform and The Frisky Disco at the Grotto
These local country and blues ensembles team up with the folks at Fort Live for a night of in-your-face rock 'n' roll. And, to kick it all off, someone named DJ Rickdickulous will be spinning on the ones and twos.
Song Swap at All Good Café
The bohemian bistro will host a night of local rock from the likes of Nicholas Altobelli, Daniel Markham and Ryan Thomas Becker.
Illuminous at the House of Blues
If you’'re in the mood for some genre-bending island music, check out tonight's free show on the Voodoo stage tonight.
