Everything You Need To Know About The Dallas Dude Set To Appear on The Next Season of The Real World
In the next couple of months, the mother of all reality shows will be hitting its 28th season. Y'know, which one we're talking about, right? The one in which people stop being polite and start getting real? Yes, The Real World.
Filmed in Portland, the upcoming season is set to make its debut on MTV at some point in the first quarter of 2013. Will the cast peruse feminist bookstores or partake in long binge-watching sessions of Battlestar Galactica. Probably not. Per protocol, we can most likely expect another season of partying, arguing and sexing from the long-standing MTV series.
We can also expect a Dallasite in the cast: Central Track has confirmed that Marlon Williams, a 24-year-old Dallas resident, aspiring rapper and former linebacker at Texas Tech University, will appear as part of the eight-person cast.
In advance of his appearance on the venerable show, here's a bit of a primer featuring everything you need to know about Williams.
• Williams spent his high school days at Pflugerville High School. He was a versatile athlete there, playing football, basketball, and track.
• He excelled at football. According to Rivals.com, Williams was a three-star recruit when he committed to Tech. That sounds about right; he made the District 15-5A first team as a senior. His stats from his senior year in high school: 86 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He also garnered 500 rushing yards and eight TDs on offense.
• At Texas Tech University, he continued to excel in football. Over the course of his career, he twice earned All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention and landed on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team once.
• Twitter got him into trouble with his hothead of a head coach at Tech. Williams was the guy who tweeted about the coach's tardiness to a team meeting — an offense deemed so bad by the coaching staff that the whole team got banned from Twitter, Facebook and MySpace during sports-related events.
• Williams has played some professional ball, too. After going undrafted by the NFL in 2010, he tried his hand in the Canadian Football League for a bit.
• These days, he's living in Dallas and trying to make it big as a rapper. His Rap name? Jay Dillinger. Last month, he released a video for a song called “So Sweet.” It currently has 148 views on YouTube. Check it out below.
