Sketch Comedy Troupe The Whitest Kids U' Know Are Coming to Sons of Hermann Hall.
Back in April we noticed something of a trend: In addition to music, local talent buying agency Parade of Flesh was suddenly placing an added focus on bringing comedy shows to town.
Back then, our surprise came due to the announcements of now-passed in-town shows from such noted comedians Todd Barry and Rob Delaney. Since those performances, Parade of Flesh has only continued dipping its toes into the comedy world — that Tim Heidecker and Neil Hamburger show the agency brought to the Texas Theater is a fine example.
Today, that trend continues: Moments ago, Parade of Flesh announced that it's bringing the Whitest Kids U' Know sketch comedy troupe to Sons of Hermann Hall on Friday, May 10. Tickets fro the show start at $17 right here.
Lest you don't know The White Kids U' Know, some background: From 2007 to 2011, the vulgar, often-juvenile, five-member troupe had quite the run, with a half-hour show that aired, first, on cable music station Fuse and, later, on the IFC channel. Their comedy is aimed almost exclusively at teenage boys, which, if nothing else, explains the troupe's involvement in the quite-stupid 2009, Playboy-focused raunch comedy, Miss March.
Still, there's something to admire about the troupe's complete lack of shame. And, not unlike Kids In The Hall, the obvious forefathers of WKUK, you've got to admire their embracing of the concept that, stupid on top of stupid on top of stupid eventually equals laughter. It certainly takes an element of panache, that's for sure.
See a below clip from the group's show to see what I mean. Then check them out at Sons on May 10.
