Sneak Your Way Into That Sold-Out Purity Ring Show.
Just two more days until the weekend.
Then you can run wild and free, and let your hair flow in the lush wind — which is stronger here in Dallas than in the so-called “Windy City,” by the way.
Still, if you need some help getting over the unrelenting grind of the workweek, there's a pretty interesting lineup of events tonight that are sure to get going if you need a midweek pick-me-up.
Carrie Rodriguez at Dan's Silverleaf
The sultry country songstress brings her devilish fiddle-playing skills to Dan's Silverleaf in Denton tonight. The Austin native is currently on tour, promoting her latest album, Give Me All You Got. Oh, and if you can’t make it out to Denton tonight, you can catch her on the 26th at the Kessler in Oak Cliff.
The Birds of Night, Tiger Waves and Blessin' at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios
The Birds of Night will be doing their thing, blend new and old rock 'n' roll ideals at Rubber Gloves in Denton tonight,w here they'll be joined by Austin indie rockers Tiger Waves and the experimental kids in Blessin'.
Purity Ring at the Granada
We sure hope you bought your tickets early for this one because tonight's show is sold out. Hailing from the great white north (Montreal, to be exact), Purity Ring has already been stealing the spotlight from others in the electronica scene by drawing inspiration from both '90s R&B and lush dream pop alike. Most of their shows have already sold out on their tour, but you can download “BELLISPEAK II,” which features Danny Brown, for free right here.
Vinyl Preservation Society DFW at The Barley House
The VPS is exactly what it sounds like. A group of people whose love for all things vinyl has brought them together in an attempt to preserve music's rich history. Tonight, the society will hold their monthly meeting at the Barley House with two very interesting themes: “Side 1, Track One” (self-explanatory) and Mental Illness (musicians whose inner torment bled down through their music).
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion at Trees
This rock trio's Meat and Bone album is the first that the band has released in eight years, and you may (or may not) have seen them recently on the The Late Show with David Letterman. Check out the video from that performance below.
