If you're going to host a concert at your cutting edge, ultra-modern natural history museum and you're looking for a local band to headline the affair, you really can't do much better than Ishi.

Aesthetically, the similarities are glaring. Like the museum, which blends computer technology with its backwards-looking subject matter, Ishi blends the then and the new, too. Well, kind of. Ishi's proffers a 21st century-indebted electronic sound, and lead singer John Mudd dons a traditional Indian headdress (rather inexplicably, granted) during pretty much every single one of his band's shows.

So, yeah, there's something there.

Or so the general public seemingly accepted at the freshly opened museum's first-ever (and, unsurprisingly, sold-out) “adult night,” which drew 1,300 attendees to the Victory Park attraction on Friday night.

Granted, this massive turnout could likely just be a reaction to the most common complaint we've heard about the Perot thus far — that it's filled with kids, like, all the goddamn time — but, hey, from the looks of these Karlo X. Ramos shows from Friday's festivities, it looks like Ishi held up its end of the bargain just fine.
