Stand Still with Dallas Rap Legends Tum Tum and Big Tuck at Dada.
Politics are so yesterday's news at this point. But, hey, don't be sad about it. This is a good thing: Now you can swipe all of your Obama and Romney bobbleheads off of your office desk and get back to obsessing over all things Dallas. Like what, you ask? Well, how about local venues such as Rubber Gloves or Club Dada? Or maybe even the Dallas Comedy Club? Swoon to whatever you like, really. Just don't call up these places repeatedly and hang up out of shyness once someone answers.
The Day Dallas Stood Still at Club Dada
This is not actually a competition to find the one Dallasite that can stand still for the longest period of time. No, “The Day Dallas Stood Still” is instead a showcase of some of the most prominent names in the Dallas rap game. Seriously, this show has some heavy hitters involved, including Dallas rap legends Big Tuck and Tum Tum, who are sharing their first bill together in years — like, since their Dirty South Rydaz days, even. And current favorites A.Dd+ and Dustin Cavazos are opening. This show should be amazing.
Denton Is Burning
Looking for an LGBTQ rave? Tonight at Rubber Gloves in Denton, you'll find one. Track Meet collective members AiR DJ and Ynfynyt Scroll will perform.
Fungi Girls at Lola's Saloon
Punk outfits Fungi Girls, Oddlot, The Longshots and Street Arabs all perform tonight at Lola's Saloon out in Fort Worth. If you're still not convinced that the Fort Worth punk scene is “all that,” this is your chance to be proven wrong.
Non-Perishable Comedy and Dallas Comedy House
Every Thursday at the Dallas Comedy House, if you bring two canned food items for the North Texas Food Bank, you'll get in for half the cover price! Help out those and need and catch a laugh as well.
Other Lives at Sons of Hermann Hall
Oklahoma's Other Lives, who opened for Radiohead last time they rolled through Dallas, play Sons of Hermann Hall tonight. Come see tonight if you still think they're “Wow, actually, a lot better than I expected this opening band I'd never heard of to be” like you once did way back when.
