Think Before You Cheat Tonight with Carrie Underwood.
Tonight's not the most eventful Wednesday night we've ever seen, but maybe that just means you should get a little bit more creative with what you do. Haven't seen a play in a while? There are two pretty good ones currently running — Perro y Sangre at Ochre House, and The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity at the Wyly Theater. If that is too tame for you, you should hang out with chronic car-smasher Carrie Underwood. If you're there, ask her if she's going for more of a Taylor Swift of Alanis Morissette vibe? I've always been curious.
Autumn at the Arboretum
Since there are so many pumpkins at the Arboretum right now, it seems like the perfect time to hide out overnight in search of the Great Pumpkin. While you're waiting, there's also a Hay Bale Maze you can use to lose the friends you don't really like. And the Chihuly exhibit is still up, too.
Perro y Sangre at Ochre House
Perro y Sangre (meaning “dog and blood”) is a new play written and directed by Matthew Posey about a young Ernest Hemingway who finds himself learning life lessons in the town of Baeza, Spain. Add in some singing and dancing (and oh how I hope the actor who plays Hemingway does some serious dancing), and you've got a good thing going.
The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity at Wyly Theatre
The Wyly Theatre is being turned into a wrestling ring for this harrowing tale that is sure to be transformative. Not just a typical sports story, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity is a play that promises tackling social issues such as race, class and power struggles.
Carrie Underwood at American Airlines Center
Jesus took the wheel and drove Carrie Underwood to Dallas for this show, and they left a path of smashed cars in their wake. But, hey, that's just what happens when you're a vengeful ex-girlfriend stereotype! By the way, do remember when American Idol winners used to reach a moderate level of success? Me and Underwood, too.
