Scenes From The All-American Rejects' and Boys Like Girls' Show at the House of Blues Last

Through bass battles and stories shared from past experiences in Dallas, The All-American Rejects put on quite the fan-approved show at the House of Blues last night, where they were joined on the bill by co-headliners Boys Like Girls.

And though both bands had songs old and new to share with their ravenous fans, this much was clear: Each simply wanted to put on an old-school rock show. Martin Johnson, lead vocalist of Boys Like Girls, stopped the band's set mid-chorus at one point to ask his crowd to put away their cellphones and cameras and just sing, dance, and jump along. All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter took a similar approach, at one point imploring his crowd to pull out their lighters — so if, for only a moment, the show could feel like a show from the past.

And, for sure, it was the older stuff that riled up the audience on this night. Everyone knew the old songs, and the crowd excitedly joined the performers in singing along as loud as they could each time one was played. The bands got their wish. It felt like an old-school show.
